Ingredients
- 7 hotdogs, sliced diagonally
- 1 medium red onion, sliced into rings
- 60 g red or green bell peppers, or a combination of both, thinly sliced
- 15 ml cooking oil
- 14 g butter or margarine, about 1 Tbsp
- 120 ml sweet and spicy banana ketchup, about 1/2 cup
- 15 ml oyster sauce, about 1 Tbsp
- 10 g crispy fried garlic, for topping
How to Make It
- Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the onion and bell peppers. Sauté briefly until slightly softened but still crisp, then remove them from the pan and set aside.
- Add the sliced hotdogs to the same pan. Cook until lightly browned around the edges.
- Add the butter or margarine and toss until melted and evenly distributed.
- Pour in the sweet and spicy banana ketchup and oyster sauce.
- Stir until the hotdogs are evenly coated and the sauce is heated through.
- Return the sautéed onion and bell peppers to the pan.
- Toss briefly to coat the vegetables without cooking them until completely soft.
- Transfer to a serving plate or carefully prepared sizzling plate.
- Top with crispy fried garlic and serve immediately.
Kubo Tips
- Sauté the onion and bell peppers only briefly so they retain some texture.
- Allow the hotdogs to brown before adding the sauce for better flavor.
- Lower the heat after adding the ketchup because the sauce can thicken and catch on the bottom quickly.
- Add a small splash of water if the sauce becomes thicker than you prefer.
- Prepare the crispy garlic separately and add it immediately before serving so it remains crunchy.
